Update 1: all under Russ G are not allowed to either backfill or source their open req. Teams are instructed to close their open reqs. Hiring
freeze till TBD.
Update 2: not all teams will stop hiring. I'm updating the above list. My org in retail closed all open job req, and so it is also true that - not all will be hiring
Update 3: recruitment will prioritize L5+ roles. Please check the open positions in the job finder. Most orgs are taking the proper steps and closing them. Few are fighting to keep them open for essential roles.
Also, reach out to the HM and find out if they are allowed to hire for that role
Update 4: no top dollar for external hire. Range penetration of 80% or above will need VP approval
Update 5: All remote req (going forward) will need VP approval.. 1point 3acres
Update 6: Why are we in this situation? In 2021, we had higher than expected attrition,
and orgs can hire up to 120% of their allowable headcount. Due to external market conditions, our regretted attention declined, and a bunch of orgs ended up having more HC than their approvals. Orgs above those approved HC are in a lousy spot, and even backfill req is not supported.
How long will this last? For the orgs under HC freeze, either the top line of your business has to grow, or your organic attrition should bring you under your HC
limit. Most managers told me this would last for 4 to 5 months. Based on the 2017 retail headcount freeze, I anticipate the following 18 months will be a challenging ride for teams under the freeze. Few teams in 2022 OLR will have a higher URA percentile to bring the HC down.

My, advice - move to AWS. Looks like most of them are hiring. If you want to grow, Retail is in rough ride.. 1point 3acres
